FMDU

The Fetch Metal Detector Unit (FMDU) was designed for the Naval Explosive Ordinance Technical Division’s Fetch robot program. The Fetch robot is a semi-autonomous unit designed to clear unspent cluster bomb munitions. The FMDU is a 3”x15” metal detector that mounts on the front of the robot, along with the associated electronics to process the information into simple inputs for the control unit, such as “found target,” “go left,” “go right,” etc.
